As part of the commemoration of its 70th Anniversary in 2016, Miller, Miller & Canby established a scholarship to be awarded annually to students from Richard Montgomery High School who plan to attend Montgomery College. The scholarship covers a full year of tuition and is renewable for a second year. As 2026 marks the firm’s 80th Anniversary, we are proud to continue this scholarship.
The firm decided to award the scholarship to students who will be attending Montgomery College because “MC” has been a part of the fabric of Montgomery County for many years, providing affordable opportunities for higher education to residents. Miller, Miller & Canby has also been privileged to provide legal representation to the College. By providing this annual scholarship, the firm recognizes the importance of the College’s mission.
The scholarship is awarded to students whose record of academic performance and community involvement reflect both the ability and commitment to succeed. The scholarship provides an opportunity to academically deserving students who, because of personal circumstances, might otherwise have difficulty financing their educational pursuits.
On May 21, 2026, the scholarship was awarded for the 11th year, recognizing student Niña Baradi at the high school’s awards ceremony. Niña immigrated to the United States with her family from the Philippines. She plays the piano at her church weekly, volunteers at community centers, and has strong academic achievement. She plans to pursue a career in nursing.
“It is an honor to recognize Niña for her hard work and passion for nursing, which follows in her father’s footsteps. Anyone who has ever relied on a nurse knows how much compassion, strength, and dedication that role requires. We look forward to following her success in the healthcare field and our community,” said Meg Gentile, the MM&C attorney who presented the award this year.
