Veirs Mill BRT

2026.01.09 Montgomery County is adding Flash Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service along Veirs Mill Road (MD 586) between Wheaton and Rockville. The project will add twelve bus stations and enhanced pedestrian and bike infrastructure. The project calls for acquiring private property along the roadway. Project design started in 2020 and completed in 2025. The County expects to begin construction in 2026. In 2025, the County began property acquisition. Property owners along the route likely have already been contacted by the County with an offer to purchase permanent and temporary easements.
