Summit Avenue Extension Project (from Plyers Mill Road to Farragut Road)

2025.08.27 The County completed its 35% design plans for the Summit Avenue Extension project in September of 2020 and then paused funding for several years. The County has now technically approved funding for the project, but the actual work on final design is not scheduled to begin until 2029, with land acquisition scheduled to occur the following year in 2030, and construction set to begin in 2031. The County is aware of the significant cost of the project and it remains possible that it will again be paused or delayed. The approved preliminary plan will extend Summit Avenue from Plyers Mill Road to Connecticut Avenue via Farragut Avenue. The extended road cuts through private property.
