Indian Head Highway (MD 210) Project to Improve Multiple Interchanges (MD 228 to I-95/I-495)

2025.10.07 The State Highway Administration (SHA) is improving multiple interchanges, in stages, along Indian Head Highway (MD 210) between I-95/I-495 and MD 228. Construction at the intersection of Kerby Hill Road / Livingston Road is complete. The project removed traffic signals and installed an overpass, as well as constructing a service road and additional shoulder space.

The intersection at Palmer Road / Livingston Road is next. The SHA has already determined the general configuration of the intersection and anticipates completion of its preliminary design (also called “30% design”) in January 2026. Currently, only the design stage is funded. Right of Way acquisition and construction are not funded at this time.

Future intersection improvements along MD 210 include Old Fort Road North, Fort Washington Road, Swan Creek Road / Livingston Road, and Old Fort Road South. The SHA has separate projects for roadway repaving and pedestrian and bicycle connectivity improvements.
