Land use attorneys Jody Kline, Soo Lee-Cho and Damon Orobona will lead a discussion on Annexations and Urban Planning, courtesy of the National Capital Area Chapter of the American Planning Association, on Monday, December 17th at the Catholic University School of Architecture. The event has been approved for 1.5 CM law credits for APA members.
The free session will address the importance of annexation law and its relevance to urban planning, particularly in the Washington, DC region, where planning is complicated by adjacent, multiple jurisdictions. The presentation will include a brief overview of general annexation law as well as insight into the negotiations that occur between both municipalities involved in the annexation process and real estate developers themselves. The presentation will discuss how the law allows this helpful negotiation to occur and will conclude with everyday examples that help explain annexation law in everyday practice.
