Jody Kline, Named as One of “Washington’s Top Real Estate Lawyers” by Washingtonian Magazine

Miller, Miller & Canby is pleased to announce that Land Use practice group leader, Jody S. Kline, has been recognized as one of “Washington’s Top Lawyers 2013-2014: Real Estate Lawyers” by Washingtonian magazine. The December 2013 issue includes a list of the region’s top 1,000 lawyers across 30 practice areas. The rankings are based on a survey sent to attorneys in the Washington, DC area, seeking nominations for leaders in those 30 practice areas. Washingtonian then conducts additional research to make its final selections. This marks the second time that Mr. Kline was recognized in this prestigious list of Top Real Estate Lawyers by Washingtonian.  The magazine quips "Real-estate deals and zoning or land-use issues are no problem for these top real-estate lawyers". Mr. Kline joined Miller, Miller & Canby in 1974, has been a principal of the firm since 1981 and has served as head of the Land Use practice group since that time. Mr. Kline's practice concentrates on land use, zoning and subdivision law and he has represented clients in numerous planning and economic development initiatives. His areas of expertise include zoning, special exception, subdivision, master planning, building permit issuance, and administrative and real estate matters related to land development. He represents private clients, non-profit entities and municipal corporations and agencies. He has qualified and testified in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County as an expert in land use and zoning law, and he has been a guest speaker at numerous professional seminars and conferences.

Mr. Kline is a member of the Bar Association of Montgomery County and the Maryland State Bar Association. On the former, he has served as Secretary, a member of the Executive Committee, Chairman of the Administrative Law Section and as member of various other committees. Related to his practice areas, Mr. Kline is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the American Planning Association and the Maryland National Capital Building Industry Association.
