Overview

Elizabeth Sockwell is an associate attorney, focusing her practice on Business and Commercial Litigation, Real Estate Litigation, Construction Litigation, and Eminent Domain and Condemnation.

Prior to joining Miller, Miller & Canby, Elizabeth worked as a Law Clerk at a law firm in Austin, Texas, where she assisted attorneys by conducting legal research and writing briefs pertaining to environmental, energy, utility and natural resources litigation.  Her experience also included legal externships with the Virginia Office of the Attorney General (Environmental Division in Richmond, Virginia), the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas and the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia. She also worked as a Research Assistant for the Virginia Coastal Policy Center, where she conducted legal research pertaining to environmental laws and policy. She began her legal career as a Senior Briefing Clerk at a firm in Austin, Texas, where she reviewed and analyzed files for workers’ compensation attorneys to assist with benefit review.

Elizabeth obtained a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, with a minor in History, at The University of Texas. She received her Juris Doctor from William & Mary Law School. During her time there, she served on the William & Mary Law Review, worked as a student admissions ambassador, and was president of the Student Environmental & Animal Law Society. She was also a Case Volunteer for Student Legal Services. Her time in law school gave her the opportunity to intern for the Honorable Judge James Moody of the Eastern District of Arkansas. In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys hiking, catching up on true-crime podcasts, and getting out on the water to ski.
