Robert Gough is a principal of the firm and concentrates in the areas of litigation and real estate. Mr. Gough has handled cases involving constitutional law, contract disputes, banking law, construction law, mechanic liens, and general litigation. Additionally, having previously served as general counsel for Citizens Savings Bank, F.S.B., Mr. Gough also practices in the firm’s real estate department advising clients with commercial and residential loan transactions as well as providing representation to the firm’s financial institution clients in general banking law matters.
EXPERIENCE:
Before joining Miller, Miller & Canby, Mr. Gough was an associate with Heise Jorgensen & Stefanelli, P.A. where, in addition to having a general litigation practice, he also handled matters dealing with estate planning, real estate and banking law. During this period, Mr. Gough served as general counsel to Citizens Savings Bank, F.S.B. from 1994 through 1997. Mr. Gough has served as the Executive Director of the Public Works Contractors Association of Maryland, Incorporated, a trade association of utility contractors, suppliers, equipment dealers and related businesses which operate principally in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties. In that capacity, Mr. Gough frequently interacted with State legislators during the Maryland General Assembly sessions on legislation and issues affecting the construction industry.
EDUCATION AND BAR ADMISSIONS:
University of Maryland, College Park (B.S. 1983); Santa Clara School of Law (1987-88, American Jurisprudence Award for Torts) Washington College of Law, American University (J.D. 1990). Mr. Gough is admitted to practice before the Bar of Maryland, the United States District Court of the District of Maryland and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:
Mr. Gough is a member of the Bar Association of Montgomery County and the Maryland State Bar Association.
